5.                  Finance Report

Clerk reported that there was an excess of income of almost £6000 compared to the previous years deficit of £ 19000. This had been due to grants, rents agency work for other authorities and general finance housekeeping. The audit situation was still outstanding, although with the help of our internal auditor Ms C.White, things were a lot closer to being resolved at last. The newly appointed government auditors had made positive responses to outstanding audits. The Chairman has explained the problems with District Audit who have asked for nearly £3000 as an interim payment towards their work with the outstanding accounts. The continued view of this Council is that it will not be paid. It is always forgotten that we are the complainants to a situation that these auditors should not have allowed to happen in the first place.

6.      Recreation and Leisure

As per the Chairman’s report. It was stated by Cllr.Gill that the original grants allowed for an additional piece of equipment for the skatepark – to be chosen after consultation with the users – and also for continued maintenance. Chairman stated that further grants might be available due to mineral extraction. There followed a discussion regarding further recreation land withing the village and the prospects of s106 planning gain finance
